Zara

Zara woke early the next morning and snuck back to her bed before the sun even came up. She managed to get a couple more hours sleep in before her alarm went off. The girls were early risers and she had to get them breakfast and off to school. Plus, the idea of either of the girls wandering into Aiden’s room to find them in bed together didn’t sit well with her. It would be breaking rule number one and she couldn’t have that happen. Her and Aiden’s relationship—or whatever it was they were doing together—couldn’t touch the girls. Lucy and Laney deserved to be blissfully ignorant of their nanny being their dad’s sub.

She brushed her teeth and pulled her hair back, pulling on her robe to pad out to the kitchen to make coffee. Zara wondered if Aiden drank coffee and realized there was so much she didn’t know about him. She made a full pot, betting a man with so much on his plate would need some form of caffeine. Although, judging by the way his body looked as if he constantly worked out and took excellent care of himself, maybe he didn’t need coffee.

“Morning,” he whispered and kissed her cheek. He was already showered and dressed for the day and Zara wondered if Aiden ever got any down time.

“Hey,” she whispered back. “You’re up early.”

“I’ve been up since you left my bed,” he said. “So, I grabbed a shower and decided to get an early start.”

Zara smiled and shook her head. “Do you drink coffee?” she questioned.

He looked at her as if she lost her mind. “That is quite a change of topic,” he teased.

“I was just thinking I don’t really know much about you. You know—likes and dislikes, that sort of thing,” she whispered.

He pulled her against his body and a part of her wanted to protest with the girls about to be awake at any moment, but he looked at her as if he wouldn’t allow her to raise a fuss about what he was about to do. Aiden pulled her up his body and kissed his way into her mouth, igniting all the same fires that burned during the night when he took her over and over. When he finally broke the kiss, she felt hot and completely out of breath.

“Yes,” he said. “I like coffee.” Aiden stepped away from her and made his way across the kitchen to pour them both a mug of coffee and all Zara seemed capable of was staring at him with her mouth open.

“Do you have a busy day today?” he asked, handing her a mug.

“Not really. Just running a few errands while the girls are in pre-school and then they have dance class today.” She had only been working for Aiden for a little over a week now, but had found herself fitting right into the girls’ schedules. As far as family schedules went, theirs was easy for her to handle and Zara counted herself lucky.

“Will you have time for lunch?” he asked.
